Six men with ties to Ole Miss were part of the inaugural class of 25 athletes and coaches inducted into the Scott County Hall of Fame this past Saturday at Roosevelt State Park in Morton. It is believed that this was the creation of the first county-wide sports hall of fame in the state of Mississippi.

Forest's James (Jim) B. Harvey and Tom Stewart Lee, Jr., Lake's Freeman Horton and Morton's Andre Hollis, Deuce McAllister and Fred Roberts, all Ole Miss Rebels, whether they attended school or served as an assistant coach, were introduced and presented with plaques at the induction.

"We are proud and blessed for the opportunity to make this new Scott County Sports Hall of Fame a reality," said Frank Edmondson, President of the Scott County Sports of Hall of Fame.

"It is a means for the inductees to be honored and recognized in their home county for their hard work and success that made them eligible and worthy of this recognition. The selection of the first class was not an easy task as there are so many worthy individuals who are qualified and will be considered for future classes."
