Gameday Experience Improvements for Tonight's Doubleheader

At Ole Miss, we strive to have the best possible gameday experience at all of our venues.  We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and useful amenities as well as using audio and video to create an environment that gives our Rebels a home court advantage.

While a new arena is on the horizon, we recognize the need to constantly improve Tad Smith Coliseum.  Here are some changes that you'll see at tonight's basketball doubleheader:

- Approximately six traffic coordinators have been added around campus to improve the flow of traffic pre-game and post-game.
- All ticket takers and security personnel have been given extensive customer service training.
- Exterior graphics at the main entrance will be installed over the next several weeks.
- To encourage student participation, the student section has been rebranded "Club Red."
- The student section has been completely repainted to align with the Club Red concept.
- All exterior doors with the exception of the student entrance have been painted grey.
- All portal signage has been made more efficient, therefore eliminating clutter.
- Additional signage has been added for restrooms.
- Various in-bowl signage has been updated.
- Various areas of the concourse and restrooms have been repainted, with additional aesthetic improvements coming.
- A new "leg room" section has been created.  To learn more, call the UMAA Foundation at: 888-REB-TKTS.
- All carpet in the court side seating section has been replaced.
- All chairs in the court side seating section will be replaced in January.
- In-seat wait service will be available to all patrons in the court side seating section.
- Queue lines for concessions have been added to reduce congestion in the concourse.
- TVs will be added near concessions locations.
- Chops BBQ has been added between portals 6 & 7.
- Chick-fil-A and Papa Johns have been located between portals 13 & 14.
- A brand new Rebel Grill has been added outside portal 3 and will service fresh grilled burgers with homemade chips.
- The popular refillable souvenir soda has been added to the concessions offering for only $5.
- Bottled water price has been reduced from $4 to $3 at all basketball games.
- Kids meals (hot dog, chips, and CapriSun) have been added for $5.
- The informative bottom line "ticker" will be present on the video board at all times.
- Look for a new and improved www.olemisshoops.com next week as we transition the site into a gameday central.  It will feature all of the upcoming game information including promotions, a feedback button for all fans, and much more.

The women tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and the men tip-off at 8:00 p.m.  So come check out the Rebels.  Don't worry about dinner, because with all of the new food amenities, we have everything you need.  See you at the game!

Gameday Update after Week 2

Another game in the books, more great feedback and a few changes coming this week.  The stadium atmosphere has been electric the first two weeks and when 8:15pm Saturday arrives, The Vaught will be the loudest place on earth.

Band Amplification

We appreciate everyone's patience as we continue to take advantage of the SEC's new change in band amplification rules.  Overall, the customer reviews on band amplification were extremely positive, but we will be improving the experience for those customers in lower rows seated directly in front of the speaker stacks.

Customer Service

Please continue to note the service of our Vaught-Hemingway Stadium staff.  Each staff member is wearing a badge that looks similar to this:

If you experience great service (or service that needs to be improved), please make a note of the letter and number combination. Then visit rebs.ms/VHSFeedback and tell us about it.

South End Zone Sound

Our customers in the south end zone continue to experience issues with sound clarity, especially from videos and the announcer.  We are bringing in one of the country's leading stadium audio experts to monitor the audio in the south end zone as well as other parts of the stadium.  He will be able to assess and make changes during sound check at noon as well as in game when the stadium is full.

Kickoff video - Thanks to our amazing creative and production teams for making the type of videos that get Vaught-Hemingway on its feet.  The fans have been asking for us to post some of the videos, so yesterday we posted the video played before kickoff.  Click the link to watch: http://rebs.ms/rebkickoff

Ross Bjork's message to the fans - Today, this video from Ross will be emailed out to Rebel Nation: http://rebs.ms/rossvaught

Ole Miss script logo at midfield has received a fresh coat of red paint.

Row identifiers have been installed on all rows.

Be Early. Be Loud. Wear Red.

Gameday Changes after Week 1

One of the main reasons we continue to have the best gameday atmosphere in the country is our desire to constantly improve.  Fan feedback is essential to improving in the right areas and we thank all of our fans for their feedback - both positive and negative.  As we head into week 2 of the football season, here are some changes we've implemented based on fan feedback from week 1:

1. The video board will include a nearly permanent scoreboard-like area at the top with score, down and distance, and more.
2. The sponsor logos on video board instant replays will be reduced in size.
3. The band amplification (which is available this year through a new change in SEC policy) will be done using multiple speakers spaced strategically on the sidelines.
4. A complete sound check was performed on Thursday and all speakers were confirmed to be in working order. The sound in some areas is still not where we want it to be, and we will be upgrading some equipment in the short-term to bring satisfaction levels up.
5. Videos are being adjusted to maximize the clarity of voices.
6. In addition to selling programs outside the stadium, game programs will be sold inside the stadium from 3 "program stands" - one stand in the south end zone, west concourse and east concourse.

One of the areas we received so much positive feedback about was our staff - ticket takers, parking attendants, concessions workers, security, etc.  We are ecstatic about the impact that a new operations group and great training had on these critical frontline representatives for the Ole Miss brand.  We'd like reward those staff members that make a positive impression on our customers, but need your help in identifying them.  Each staff member is wearing a name tag that contains a letter followed 1-3 numbers.  If you'd like us to know about great service (or service that needs to be improved), please note that "badge number" and go to http://rebs.ms/VHSFeedback to tell us about it.

Thank you for your continued support of the Ole Miss Rebels and we'll see you in Vaught-Hemingway on Saturday!

Wear Red.  Be Early.  Be Loud.

I am not and never have been an Ole Miss fan. I am however a Coach Freeze fan. I like what he represents in today's world of big time sports and what he stands for in leading young men of today into a more responsible role. He is everything that Ole Miss has never had. I am on his band wagon winning or losing.

Gray pants with red and blue stripes on the legs have served Ole Miss football my entire life time. The blue on blue, red on red and white on white are hideous and UGLY! Leave the pants alone.
