Ole Miss Alum Wins College Gameday VIP Trip

ESPN College Gameday might not be coming to Ole Miss this week, but Ole Miss will be going there, as alumna Melissa King (@Dent4DA) won this week's AT&T #BeTheFan challenge. As the winner, she will receive a VIP trip to this week's ESPN College Gameday in Fargo, N.D., on the campus on North Dakota State.

"I have never been to Fargo, so I get to see a part of the country that I have never seen," King said. "And of course, I get to see the hosts of College Gameday, which is fantastic. I will get to see a behind-the-scenes tour of how everything is set up and how everything works. It's going to be a wonderful experience. And I get to see a different kind of football and a different kind of tailgating from what we're used to in the Grove."

The contest asked participants to submit photos or videos via Instagram, Twitter or Vine showing their game day ritual or superstition. Her winning video is of her dog Jedi, a rescued Maltese Mix, raising his two front paws like the motion for a touchdown.

As part of the VIP trip, she will receive backstage access to meet with Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard, tickets to the game and the opportunity to represent Ole Miss during the broadcast while holding the Twitter Sign of the Week.

She will also be entered to win the Grand Prize trip to Pasadena, Calif., for the 2014 BCS National Championship game.

"I can't be more proud that I get to represent Ole Miss and our university," she said. "I won this competition because it was Ole Miss that the judges picked, and it's humbling that not only I won, but I also did it while I was also representing Ole Miss.

"And now I get to Fargo and meet people who work in college sports on a national level and get to promote the good that is Ole Miss and be a representative of Rebel Nation and show that we're back in the football game."

King, originally from Madison, Miss., is a 2007 Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College graduate with a degree in Business Administration. She is now a practicing attorney living outside Atlanta, with her own firm specializing in Family Law and Estate Planning.

She went to one Ole Miss game last year and has already made plans to go to the Ole Miss-Auburn game in a few weeks. While she doesn't get to go back to Oxford as much as she would like to, she hopes next season she will be a season ticket holder. She also hopes ESPN College Gameday will soon visit Ole Miss.

"It's a perfect time to go, and if I can get in a good word to get College Gameday to come to the Grove, I will absolutely do it," she said. "I think it's time. They need to be there. I was an Ole Miss ambassador and got plenty of students to come to Ole Miss, so I'm going to do my best to get those guys to see us."

How can you have five straight top 25 recruiting classes and look as bad as Ole Miss has this year. Easy lack of coaching fundamentals. Look at Mason at Vandy, nothing but 2 and 3 star recruits out of high school and he developers players that want to win. Hugh freeze has 3, 4 & 5 recruits and he expects them to win because of what they were in High School. Mr. Freeze you have not been teaching the fundamentals of football or winning in life. Mr. Freeze you have quit on your players because you have some false expectations of what they are instead of what you can develop in them. Either do your job or quit. Oh yea, please quit running your smoke and mirrors offense, everyone has figured it out. Run a physical offense that can open up holes for your running backs and then your pass attack want require 12 are 14 four and five star receivers. Mr. Freeze you have problems and you need to know that you are not smarter than the rest of the coaches in the SEC.

Not every pass can be caught. Too low, too short whatever. Not every Kelly pass is perfect. Records were broken by receivers also. But they sre not going to catch every ball thrown. The loss to Auburn was not one players fault. You win or lose as a team.
