FORMER HUSKIE KRISTIN WIENER NAMED TO BRADLEY'S COACHING STAFF

Kristin Wiener ActionFormer NIU women's basketball standout Kristin Wiener was named Bradley's Director of Basketball Operations Wednesday.

Wiener averaged 10.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in her four-year career at Northern. As a senior, she averaged 15.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game to earn third team All-MAC honors. She ranks 14th in career scoring at NIU and sits in 14th for career rebounding. An honorable mention All-MAC honoree as a junior, she led the Huskies in rebounding, field goal percentage and blocked shots each of her last two seasons in DeKalb.


After her time at NIU, the Apple Valley, Minn., native played three seasons professionally in Spain and one in Portugal. Following her professional career, Wiener landed an internship with the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA's Minnesota Lynx.

FORMER HUSKIE JESSIE WILCOX HIRED AS ROSARY H.S. COACH

She torched the NIU Convocation Center nets to become the 25th member of NIU women's basketball's 1,000-point club, and now Jessie Wilcox (2005-09) will put her experience and expertise as a player to use on the other side of the sport -- coaching.  The former standout Huskie guard was recently named head varsity girls basketball coach at Rosary High School in nearby Aurora, Ill.    

NIU BASEBALL ALUM LANDS COACHING JOB AT ALMA MATER

Former Northern Illinois baseball player Andy Deain (2006-09) recently made headlines in the Northwest Herald this week as he was named the pitching coach at Prairie Ridge High School, his alma mater. Deain was one of Prairie Ridge's top pitchers in his two varsity seasons before missing his senior season, finishing 22-1 his sophomore and junior seasons. With the Huskies, Deain had an outstanding pitching career (mostly in relief) finishing with a 14-3 record, 11 saves and 122 strikeouts.
