IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...

Men's Tennis: The Huskies finished the regular season against Buffalo, winning the affair 5-2. The team clinched the regular season championship with the victory, giving the Huskies the first seed in the MAC Championship Tournament. The tournament will be held at Ball State on April 25 and 26. 

Women's Tennis:  The Huskies closed the season with two losses against MAC foes. On Friday, they fell to Toledo, 5-2. On Saturday, they dropped to Eastern Michigan, 6-1. NIU finishes the season with a 7-12 record (1-7 MAC).

Track & Field: NIU took second at the Blue Demon Invitational out of five teams. Claudette Day set a new NIU record in the high jump, going up to 1.78 meters. Next up for the team is one of largest track & field competitions in collegiate athletics, the Penn Relays.

Baseball: The Huskies dropped four of their five games on the week to bring their current record to 10-28-1. On Wednesday, the team fell in both games of a doubleheader at Bradley, 3-0 and 7-5. On Friday, the Huskies dropped 3-2 against Central Michigan. On Saturday, the team followed with a 5-3 loss against the Chippewas. The Huskies took the series finale on Sunday, 3-1.

Softball: The Huskies went 2-2 on the week to bring their record to 19-22 this season. The week began with the team splitting a doubleheader against Central Michigan with a 4-1 win and 5-0 loss on Friday. On Saturday, NIU beat Eastern Michigan, 8-6. On Sunday, the Huskies fell to the Eagles, 4-3

Baseball: NIU went 2-2 on the week overall, bringing its record to 6-21-1 this spring. On Wednesday, the Huskies beat Valparaiso on the road, 10-6. On Saturday, they dropped both games in a doubleheader against Toledo, 10-4 and 6-4. On Sunday, NIU rebounded with a 7-0 victory over Toledo

Softball: The Huskies won all four of their games on the week, improving to 15-16 on the season. On Wednesday, they took both games of a doubleheader against North Dakota, 8-5 and 10-2. On Saturday, NIU bested Western Michigan, 10-1. On Sunday, the team beat the Broncos again, 6-1

Men's Tennis: NIU bested Ball State on Saturday, 6-1. The win improved the team's record to 15-5 with a 2-0 MAC figure. The Huskies have just three matches left on the schedule before the MAC Championships. 

Women's Tennis: NIU lost both of its matches over the weekend, falling to 6-10 with a 1-5 MAC record. On Friday, the Huskies dropped at Bowling Green, 6-1. On Saturday, they fell at Western Michigan, 5-2. NIU has three more matches before the MAC Championships begin.  

Track & Field: NIU competed at the EIU Big Blue Classic. Ali Olson and Meghan Heuer turned in strong performances at the event. Next up for the Huskies is the UTEP Invitational. 

Gymnastics: Kim Gotlund and Amanda Stepp competed at the NCAA Regionals. Gotlund had an all-around score of 38.100 in the event and Stepp placed eighth in the floor exercise with a 9.775 score.  

Women's Golf: The Huskies finished third at the Bradley Invitational with a team score of 622. They were just five strokes out of first place to finish the event. Lena Gautier placed ninth individually with a final score of 155.

Baseball: NIU played a three game series at Bowling Green over the weekend, winning one of the games. The win was a 9-0 final on Friday. On Saturday, the team played a doubleheader, losing both games, 4-1 and 7-3. The Huskies currently hold a 4-19-1 record in 2014. 

Softball: The Huskies played five games over the week, going 1-4 in the contests. The first was a 13-2 loss at the hands of Northwestern on Wednesday. On Friday, the Huskies lost against Bowling Green, 6-4. On Saturday, they struck back against the same team to win against the same team, 10-3. On Sunday, NIU dropped both games in a doubleheader against Toledo, 10-9 and 9-0

Track & Field: The Huskies competed at the Raleigh RelaysBobcat Invitational, and Texas Relays over the week, finding some level of success at each. They'll next compete at the EIU Big Blue Invitational on Saturday, April 5.

Men's Tennis: The Huskies took down Western Michigan on Friday, 5-2. It was the first conference victory of the season for NIU. The team's record currently stands at 14-5 with a 1-0 record in the MAC.

Women's Tennis: The Huskies split two MAC matches over the weekend. On Friday, they beat Akron 4-3. On Saturday, NIU fell to Buffalo, 6-1. NIU is now 1-3 in conference play this season.  

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...

Wrestling: NIU sent two players to the NCAA Championships recently, Rob Jillard and Nick Smith. Both lost in the second round of their weight classes. The two combined to give NIU 53rd place at the event. 

Women's Tennis: The Huskies dropped both of their matches, getting their first taste of 2014 MAC play. On Friday, they fell 6-1 at Ball State. On Saturday, it was another 6-1 loss, this time at Miami (Ohio). The Huskies are currently 5-7 this season. 

Men's Tennis: NIU took its only match of the weekend against Saint Louis, 7-0. It was a dominating performance throughout. The Huskies will begin conference play on Friday, March 28 at Western Michigan. They head into conference play with a 13-5 record. 

Baseball: Northern Illinois went 2-2 on the week. On Tuesday, the team had a nice comeback victory against UIC, 8-7. Against Buffalo, the Huskies won the series opener on Friday, 15-9. On Saturday, they lost 3-2. Following that loss was another on Sunday, 3-1.  

Softball: The Huskies split two games at Iowa State, seeing their record move to 10-12. Both games were played on Sunday. NIU took the first, 15-6. The team lost the second, 6-5. Neither game went the standard seven innings, as the first ended after five and the second was forced to an eighth inning. 

Track & Field: The Huskies finished first at the Cougar Classic. Jasmine Wilson qualified for the javelin at the MAC Championships with her performance in the event. 

Gymnastics: The Huskies combined to finish fourth at the MAC Championships. Kim Gotlund had a great individual meet, finishing third in the all-around. Her performance is likely to land her a spot in at the NCAA Regionals, set to begin on Saturday, April 5. 

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...

Baseball: The Huskies had a rough go of things at the Fuddruckers Lobo Invite. On Friday, February 21, they nearly beat Missouri State after being down 8-0, but NIU came up just short and lost 9-8. Later that day, against New Mexico, the team fell in a 12-0 defeat. On Saturday, February 22, the Huskies lost once more to Missouri State, 11-0 being the final this time. On Sunday, February 23, NIU and New Mexico tied 3-3 after 10 innings of play. 

Softball: The Huskies went 3-1 last weekend at the Disney Diamond 9 Citrus Classic to improve their record to 5-4 this year. On Friday, they took down Fairfield, 7-3, and IPFW, 4-0. The lone loss of the event came against Albany on Saturday, 3-1. On Sunday, NIU bounced back to defeat Delaware, 2-1 

Women's Basketball: On Wednesday, February 19, the Huskies fell at Akron, 89-75. They followed up that performance with an 85-77 loss at home against Central Michigan Saturday. On the following Thursday however, NIU snapped its six-game losing streak with a 68-59 overtime victory against Toledo. NIU is 9-16 on the season. 

Wrestling: NIU ended the regular season on a high note at Buffalo. Against the Bulls, the Huskies were able to come back from being down 11-0 in the match to win 20-14. The Huskies ended the regular season with a 7-11 record and a 2-6 conference record. They will next play at the MAC Championships on Saturday, March 8. 

Gymnastics: On Friday, NIU placed third in the State of Illinois Classic in Normal, Ill. with a team score of 193.625. The following Sunday, the Huskies fell at Bowling Green, 194.825-193.075. Next up for the team is Senior Day. On Sunday, March 2, the Huskies will host Central Michigan for a meet at 2:00 p.m.

Women's Golf: NIU golfers performed well as they took sixth in the Islander Classic on on Tuesday, February 25. The team shot a 299 on the final day of the tournament, the third lowest team total in the history of the program.

Track & Field: As a final tuneup for the MAC Indoor Championships, the Huskies competed at the Ball State Quadrangular. They took third in the event. The indoor championships will run on both February 28 and March 1. 

Men's Basketball: Thursday, February 20 against Eastern Michigan, the Huskies took an intense double overtime game over Eastern Michigan, 61-59. The following Sunday, the team took a tight 70-67 defeat at Central Michigan. The Huskies bounced back with a win against the then top team in the MAC, Toledo, 74-66. The Huskies are 13-14 this season. 

Men's Tennis: NIU improved to 10-3 on the season with three wins in recent memory.  On Thursday, the Huskies dropped Butler, 7-0. On Saturday, they took both of their matches, playing against Western Illinois and Dayton, 7-0 and 4-0 respectively

Men's Tennis: The Huskies went 3-0 last weekend after defeating Detroit, UW-Whitewater, and Southern Illinois. They outscored opponents 20-1 on the weekend. The three wins extended the team's winning streak to five matches. NIU has a home match on Friday, February 7 against SIU-Edwardsville and a road match on Sunday, February 9 at Indiana. 

Women's Tennis: NIU suffered its first defeat of the season on Sunday, February 2 in a road match at Wisconsin. The Huskies lost the match, 5-2. NIU is 1-1 on the young season. On Friday, February 7, the Huskies play SIU-Edardsville at home. On the following Saturday, they'll remain at home to take on Cleveland State. 

Men's Basketball: The Huskies have put together a nice three-game winning streak over the last week plus, bringing their current record to 10-11. On Wednesday, January 29, the Huskies edged Kent State, 50-49. On the following Saturday, they pulled off an overtime victory at Ball State, 67-65. On Tuesday, February 4, NIU bested Miami (Ohio), 53-41 

Women's Basketball: The Huskies went 1-2 over the last week plus, giving them an 8-12 overall record thus far. Against Kent State on Wednesday, January 29, NIU won 65-43. The following Saturday, the Huskies fell at Western Michigan, 56-43. At home against Akron on Wednesday, February 5, the Huskies lost 71-67

Wrestling: Northern Illinois saw its record drop to 6-9 with a 23-12 loss at Old Dominion on Friday, January 31. The Huskies are set to take on Kent State at home on Saturday, February 8. 

Gymnastics: NIU's gymnastics team improved its record to 2-1 (2-0 MAC) with a 192.450-191.600 win against Western Michigan on Saturday, February 1. The Huskies are on the road for a meet at Kent State on Friday, February 7 at 6:00 p.m.

Women's Golf: NIU defeated Ohio, 4-1, but lost to Bowling Green, 3-1 o the first day of MAC Match play on Monday, February 3. On Tuesday, the Huskies bested Cleveland State, 3.5-1.5.

Men's Tennis: The Huskies took on No. 30 Drake on Friday, losing 4-3. The Huskies started off strong in this one, claiming the doubles point for an early 1-0 edge. The rest of the match was back-and-forth battle, resulting in NIU falling just short. The Huskies will host a doubleheader on Friday against IPFW and Chicago State. 

Men's Basketball: Northern Illinois has played three games over the last week, dropping them all. On Wednesday, January 15, the Huskies took on Kent State. The game went to overtime, the first of its kind of the 2013-14 season, but NIU fell 73-64. On Saturday, January 18, NIU faced Ohio. This one ended 65-46 in favor of Ohio. On Wednesday, January 22, The Huskies travelled to Toledo, dropping the affair 70-68. NIU is now 7-10 on the season. 

Women's Basketball: The Huskies have gone 1-2 in three games recently, bringing their record to 7-9 on the season. On Wednesday, January 15 against Michigan, NIU fell 65-60. That following Saturday, the Huskies bested Miami (Ohio), 69-66. On Thursday, January 23, NIU fell to Buffalo, 63-52

Track & Field: NIU travelled to its first event of the new year, the Illini Classic. The Huskies finished third at the event overall out of 10 teams. Next up for the Huskies is the Wisconsin Elite Invitational, held in Madison, Wis. on Saturday, January 25. 

Wrestling: The Huskies have gone 2-1 in recent duals, improving their record to 6-7 on the season overall. On Friday, January 17 at Eastern Michigan, NIU won 24-9. On the following Sunday, January 19, the Huskies were at the Wendy's Duals. They won the first 36-6, but dropped the second 26-11.

In Case You Missed It...

Football: NIU improved to 3-0 after a tight 43-39 victory against the Eastern Illinois Panthers. The Huskies were down 20-0 mid-way through the first quarter, but a 30-0 run by the team propelled them to the 22nd straight home victory for NIU.

Men's Soccer: Northern Illinois played two games last weekend in the Northwestern Lakeside Classic. The first was a 2-1 loss against Farleigh Dickinson on Friday. In the second game against Saint Mary's on Sunday, NIU was able to reverse the result from Friday and claim its own 2-1 victory.

Women's Soccer: The Huskies closed out non-conference play when they traveled to Chicago for a match against the Loyola Chicago Ramblers. The game ended in a 1-0 loss for NIU, making it five straight games in which the Huskies have failed to record a win. NIU is now 2-5-1 on the season.

Men's Tennis: Northern Illinois competed in the Drake Invitational with seven other teams. The team was able to take one of the four flights in the event. The Huskies also went undefeated in consolation matches. On the first day, one doubles team was able to make it to the final round of the flight before falling.

Men's Golf: NIU played in the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, held in Zionsville, Ind. The team finished 14th overall after three rounds of play. Pierrick Fillon had the best performance for the Huskies, producing a three-round total of 236. His best round was the third, in which he scored a 75.

Volleyball: The Huskies went unbeaten in the Huskie Invitational volleyball tournament held over the weekend. The team went 3-0 to improve to 8-6 overall. On Friday, NIU beat George Washington 3-0 and IPFW 3-1. On Saturday, the Huskies swept Oakland, 3-0

Volleyball - The Huskies played four matches over the last week, going 1-3 in those affairs. Their record now stands at 5-6 on the season. The win came against Southern Utah in the New Mexico State tournament. NIU featured a balanced offensive attack in that one, with Jenna Radtke, Sarah Angelos, and Mackenzie Roddy each having more than 10 kills in all.

Men's Soccer - Northern Illinois split two games in the NIU Adidas Invitational, falling 1-0 against Butler on Friday, but winning 2-1 against Green Bay on Sunday. Sean Totsch and Jayson LeSeth each had goals in the win against the Green Bay Phoenix. The Huskies are now 2-4-0 on the season.

Women's Soccer - NIU went 0-1-1 on the weekend, dropping the first game at Green Bay 1-0 and tying Western Illinois in a home game, 1-1. Cori Frankenberg scored her second goal of the season in the game against WIU. NIU is now 2-4-1.

Men's Tennis - Northern Illinois pulled down the best team score in the River Forest Invitational. Jovan Zeljkovic won both flights he took part in; the #4 Singles and #3 Doubles. In that doubles bracket, he teamed up with Matt Lynch. The Huskies also had several players finish third in their flights.

Women's Tennis - Arantza de la Torre and Cristina Alvarez both won flights in the Chicago State Invitational. The team also had other players and doubles teams who finished third or better in their flights. The Huskies don't have another event until the first weekend of October.

Cross Country - The Huskies finished fourth in the Illinois State Invitational on Friday, held at the Weibring Golf Course in Normal, Ill. Ali Olson produced the best finish for NIU, taking 16h place in the event. She had a time of 18:19.24 as she crossed the finish line.

Women's Golf - NIU competed in the Cougar Classic, hosted by Chicago State at Harborside International Golf Center. Play ran on Monday and Tuesday earlier this week. Samantha Coyne faired best for the Huskies, finishing eighth among individual players. As a team, the Huskies placed seventh overall.

Baseball: The Huskies earned their fifth consecutive MAC series win during the week. After dropping a 3-2 decision at Iowa Wednesday, NIU rebounded with a 3-1 win in the lid-lifter against Miami (Ohio) on Friday. On Saturday, Northern used a rally in the bottom of the ninth to claim a 4-3 win and the series. The RedHawks avoided the sweep on Sunday, though, with NIU falling by an 11-9 score.

Softball: Northern Illinois kept their MAC hot streak going with three wins over the weekend. Following a 5-4 loss to UIC on Wednesday, NIU split a doubleheader with Akron, topping the Zips 3-0 in game one before falling 7-5 in game two. The Huskies got back on the winning side Saturday with a 2-0 win over Ohio, followed by a 3-2 victory Sunday afternoon.

Track & Field: Northern Illinois closed out their regular season over the weekend with a busy three meet schedule. At the Penn Relays, the Huskies got a MAC auto bid from Sidra Sherrill in the shot put, while Janay Mitchell solidified her spot in the 100 meters. Meanwhile, NIU got strong showings at West Chester and UW-Whitewater.

Men's Tennis: Northern Illinois saw their season come to an end as they hosted the 2013 MAC tournament. The Huskies advanced to their first title match since 2004 when they upset No. 1 Ball State, 4-2, Friday. Their run ended Saturday, though, when they fell to Western Michigan, 4-3.

Women's Golf: NIU finished their season at the MAC Championships with an eighth place finish. Jenny Niemiec led the Huskies with a 26th place finish.

Baseball: The Huskies split their four games during the week, but scored another MAC series win. The week began with a 19-0 loss at home against Bradley before NIU headed to Ohio. The Bobcats would take the series opener on Friday by a 5-4 margin. Northern responded Saturday with an 11-2 win to knot the series, then take the rubber match Sunday by a 10-3 score.

Softball: Northern Illinois earned four more MAC wins to put themselves right in the thick of the conference tournament race. NIU began the week with a tight 11-9 loss at Northwestern. However, they would respond Friday with a doubleheader sweep of Kent State by scores of 5-1 and 4-3. The Huskies' win streak extended to six Sunday in Buffalo with 6-4 and 6-0 wins over the Bulls.

Track & Field: Northern Illinois dominated the competition at the Huskie Open with nine event titles. Megan Gregory (100 hurdles, 200 meters), Janay Mitchell (100 meters), Ida Burbulla (high jump), Sidra Sherrill (shot put), Alex Schad (long jump) all earned wins, along with the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Out west at the Beach Invitational, Meghan Heuer earned an automatic bid to MACs in the 800 meters.

Men's Tennis: Northern Illinois closed out their regular season Sunday with a big 4-3 win over Buffalo. The win helped secure NIU a spot in next weekend's MAC Championships, which the Huskies host.

Women's Tennis: NIU ended their season with a pair of home losses. On Friday, the Huskies were bested by Ball State, 5-2. Meanwhile, Northern Illinois finished their season with a 5-2 loss against Miami (Ohio).

Men's Golf: NIU closed out their regular season with a pair of meets hosted by Big Ten schools. Monday and Tuesday, the Huskies earned a tie for 10th at Northwestern's Kemper Sports Intercollegiate. Later on in the week, Northern took 16th place at Purdue's Boilermaker Invitational.

Baseball: The Huskies went 3-1 on the week to push their MAC record to a conference-best 9-3. Following a 9-3 midweek loss at Illinois State, NIU bounced back with a 5-3 win over Western Michigan on Friday. The took the series following a 3-2 victory against the Broncos on Saturday, then broke out the brooms in a 9-8 walk-off win Sunday.

Softball: Northern Illinois split their four games over the weekend against a pair of Michigan squads. On Friday, the Huskies lost both games of a doubleheader against Central Michigan by 7-6 and 7-3 margins. They came back Saturday with a 6-3 win against Eastern Michigan, then swept the Eagles Sunday with a walk-off 9-8 win.

Track & Field: Northern Illinois made the most of their trip to the Sea Ray Relays this weekend with several personal bests. In addition, Megan Gregory moved into the MAC's top five with a 13.83 run in the 100 hurdles.

Men's Tennis: Northern Illinois split two road matches over the weekend, but did pick up a crucial conference victory. After losing to Detroit Friday night, the Huskies used a late rally to knock off Toledo on Sunday, 6-1.

Women's Tennis: NIU dropped both of their final road MAC matches over the weekend. The Huskies lost at Toledo, 4-3, on Friday, then dropped a 6-1 decision to Eastern Michigan.

Men's Golf: NIU took 10th place at the Jim West Intercollegiate in McKinney, Texas, as Bryce Emory won the individual title on a playoff.

Women's Golf: The Huskies finished in fifth place at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational over the weekend. Jenny Niemiec led the way with a top 10 finish for NIU.

Baseball: The Huskies kept their hot streak alive with a 3-1 record over the past week. NIU started off with a 10-6 win over Milwaukee in a midweek contest. Following a 6-3 defeat in the series opener at Central Michigan, Northern rebounded with a 7-2 triumph on Saturday to knot the series. The Huskies took the rubber match with a 6-3 Sunday victory.

Softball: Northern Illinois hit a rough spot in their schedule to open April. Following a 7-3 midweek loss at Illinois State, the Huskies were swept in a doubleheader at Ball State by scores of 5-3 and 9-2. Looking to rebound at Miami (Ohio), NIU lost Saturday, 5-2, and Sunday in extras, 5-4.

Track & Field: Northern Illinois took third place at the Chicagoland Championships in Romeoville, Ill. Natalie Tarter, Sidra Sherrill and Megan Gregory each claimed event titles for the Huskies, while Tarter's 4,206 points in the heptathlon set a new school record.

Men's Tennis: Northern Illinois split two road matches over the weekend. In MAC play, the Huskies lost to Ball State, 7-0. However, they bounced back with a 4-3 win over the IPFW Mastodons.

Women's Golf: NIU claimed third place at the IPFW Spring Invitational in Fort Wayne, Ind. Connie Ellett led the Huskies by tying for 10th.

Baseball: The Huskies moved to 4-2 in MAC play this weekend with a three-game sweep of Akron in Avon, Ohio. The series began Friday with a tight 4-3 win courtesy of two runs in the top of the ninth. NIU got another one-run win Saturday with a 2-1 win behind Eli Anderson's complete game performance. Northern got the sweep on Sunday by crushing the Zips, 14-4.

Softball: Northern Illinois split their home-opening series against Western Michigan. On Friday, the Huskies blew away the Broncos in a 12-5 victory. The next day, NIU fell to WMU, 7-6, after the Broncos got three runs in the seventh inning.

Track & Field: Northern Illinois had several strong performances over the weekend at the Texas Relays and Raleigh Relays. Megan Gregory and Meghan Heuer each clinched MAC automatic qualifying marks to highlight the split-squad weekend.

Men's Tennis: Northern Illinois suffered their first conference loss of the year Friday, as they dropped a 5-2 decision to Western Michigan.

Women's Tennis: The Huskies went 0-2 on their home court during the weekend. Friday's match against Bowling Green saw NIU fall to the Falcons, 5-2. The next day, NIU lost to Western Michigan, 6-1.

Men's Golf: Northern Illinois placed 14th at the FAU Spring Break Invitational in Lake Worth, Fla. Griffin Bauman paced NIU with a 30th place finish at +10.

Wrestling: Matt Mougin closed out NIU's season with an impressive performance at the 2013 NCAA Championships in Des Moines. The redshirt junior upset #11 Blake Stauffer of Arizona State before falling to #6 Logan Storley of Minnesota on Thursday. On Friday, Mougin defeated Virginia Tech's Austin Gabel and Penn's Ian Korb before bowing out of the tournament against #8 Nick Heflin of Ohio State.

Gymnastics: Northern Illinois took fourth place at the 2013 MAC Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich. Natalie Sutter highlighted the Huskies' day with a third place finish in the all-around.

Baseball: The Huskies went 1-2 in their MAC opening series against Kent State in Chicago. NIU dropped the series opener Friday by a 3-2 margin. However, Northern took the second game on Saturday, 3-0, behind Eli Anderson's complete game shutout. KSU would claim the finale, though, with a 13-1 win on Sunday.

Men's Tennis: In their lone match of the week, Northern Illinois traveled downstate and edged Southern Illinois, 4-3.

Women's Tennis: The Huskies dropped two matches in the opening weekend of MAC play. On Friday, NIU lost to Akron, 7-0. They followed that up by falling to Buffalo on Saturday, 6-1.

Men's Basketball: Northern Illinois' 2012-13 season came to a close Monday night with a tight 45-44 loss at Eastern Michigan. Aksel Bolin and J.J. Cravatta each scored nine points to pace the Huskies.

Gymnastics: Northern Illinois wrapped up their regular season with a fourth place finish at the State of Illinois Classic. Amanda Stepp earned all-state honors at the meet.

Baseball: The Huskies played five games over spring break in the Mid-South. NIU split a midweek series with Murray State, topping the Thoroughbreds Wednesday, 8-4, to avenge a 7-1 loss the day prior. The team went 1-2 at the Music City Tournament in Nashville, falling to Belmont by a 4-3 margin on Friday and Lipscomb 12-8 on Saturday. They did end the tournament on a high note, though, with an 8-2 win against Belmont.

Softball: NIU went 4-5 in their spring break swing to southern California. On Tuesday, the Huskies split a doubleheader with Cal State-Northridge. The next day, NIU dropped contests against North Dakota State and Loyola Marymount. On the first day of the Highlander Classic in Riverside, Northern fell to Notre Dame in extras and beat host UC-Riverside. Saturday, the Huskies defeated Iona and lost to ND before ending the trip with a win against UCR on the final day.

Track & Field: The Huskies kicked off their outdoor season Friday in Tampa, Fla., with several quality performances. Meghan Heuer won the 1500 meters, while 10 different individuals combined for 14 top 10 finishes.

Men's Tennis: NIU went 2-1 on their spring break trip to central Florida. The trip started with a 5-2 loss to Stetson. However, the Huskies rebounded with a 4-3 win over Appalachian State and a 4-2 triumph against Army.

Women's Tennis: The Huskies earned two wins on their spring break trip to Kansas City. On Tuesday, NIU defeated UMKC, 6-1. They would follow that up with a 7-0 sweep of Emporia State.

Men's Golf: Northern Illinois placed 17th at the Mission in Spring Spectacular in Howey in the Hills, Fla. Kurtis Luedtke paced the Huskies with a +13, 229 in the tournament to tie for 47th.

Women's Golf: The Huskies took sixth at Bucknell's Lady Bison Spring Classic in Las Vegas. Jennie Niemiec led NIU with a 15th place finish.

Men's Basketball: Northern Illinois closed out their 2012-13 home schedule during the week. On Wednesday, the Huskies dropped a 53-41 loss to Eastern Michigan. Three days later on Senior Night, Central Michigan spoiled the celebration with a 69-50 decision.

Women's Basketball: The Huskies wrapped up their home slate with a pair of games against Michigan foes. Thursday night saw NIU fall to Eastern Michigan, 54-45. On Senior Day Sunday afternoon, Northern lost to Central Michigan, 82-61.

Gymnastics: Northern Illinois dominated their Senior Night showdown with Eastern Michigan, winning 194.775-192.550. Megan Melendez, Jaelyn Olson, Kim Gotlund and Natalie Sutter all won individual honors on the night.

Baseball: Northern Illinois went 1-2 at Minnesota's Dairy Queen Classic with all three contests coming down to the last inning. In Friday's tournament lid-lifter, the Huskies fell to Utah, 6-1. On Saturday afternoon, NIU and Dartmouth were locked in a pitchers' duel, but it was the Big Green who came away with a 1-0 win. In the tournament finale, Alex Klonowski's complete game two-hitter lifted the Huskies to a 2-1 win over the host Golden Gophers.

Softball: NIU split their Sunday doubleheader in Carbondale, Ill., as part of Southern Illinois' Coach B Classic. In the first game, the Huskies squeaked out a 3-2 win against Butler, but lost in extras to Saint Louis in the second game.

Men's Tennis: NIU split their two road contests in Indianapolis over the weekend. On Saturday, Butler bested the Huskies in a 5-2 loss. Northern rebounded with a 5-2 win against IUPUI Sunday.

Women's Tennis: The Huskies pushed their winning streak to nine in Des Moines, Iowa, with three wins. On Saturday, the Huskies swept Nebraska Omaha, 7-0, and topped Drake, 4-3. On Sunday, NIU handed Central Arkansas a 6-1 loss.

Men's Basketball: Northern Illinois dropped their lone game of the week Saturday in a 59-47 loss against Eastern Illinois in the Ramada Worldwide Bracketbusters.

Women's Basketball: The Huskies lost a pair of MAC West road games over the last week. On Wednesday morning, NIU  was handed a 72-40 loss from MAC-leading Toledo. Three days later, Northern fell to Ball State, 64-54.

Wrestling: The Huskies ended their regular season on a high note, defeating Gardner-Webb, 22-12, and Cleveland State, 26-11. Nick Smith, Rob Jillard, Andrew Morse and Parker Settecase each won both of their matches on the day.

Gymnastics: Northern Illinois posted eight 9.8 scores against No. 21 Kent State Saturday, but it was not enough in a 195.800-194.350 loss to the Golden Flashes.

Track & Field: NIU finished 10th at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich. Janay Mitchell led the way with a second place finish in the 60 meters, while Jamie Burr and Megan Gregory earned sixth place finishes in the 800 meters and 60 hurdles, respectively.

Baseball: Northern Illinois went 1-3 in a four-game set with Nevada out in Reno. The Huskies' late rally on Friday came short in a 7-3 Wolfpack win. The two squads split a doubleheader Saturday, as NIU won, 12-4, prior to Nevada's 13-0 triumph in the first game. The series finale went the way of the Wolfpack in a tight 3-2 decision.

Softball: NIU went 2-3 at Florida Atlantic's Strike-Out Cancer Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla. On Friday, the Huskies split their two games, beating North Florida in extras, 4-2, and losing to Providence, 13-7. Northern was swept on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Towson and a 1-0 loss to Connecticut. However, the tournament ended positively with a 7-3 win against host FAU.

Men's Tennis: NIU split a pair of Saturday contests at home. In the first match, the Huskies swept Western Illinois, 7-0, before falling to the Green Bay Phoenix, 4-1.

Women's Tennis: The Huskies easily defeated in-state rival Chicago State, sweeping the Cougars, 7-0.

Men's Golf: The Huskies took second place Saturday at the 36-hole Forest Hills Collegiate. Bryce Emory paced NIU with a fifth place showing.

Women's Golf: NIU kicked off their spring season in Daytona Beach with a second place finish at the Gary Freeman BCU Spring Invitational. Alllie Parthie and Taylor Ellett both earned top 10 showings by placing second and sixth, respectively.

Men's Basketball: Northern Illinois lost two tight MAC West contests during the week. At home on Wednesday, the Huskies lost in a 56-52 decision to Ball State despite Antoine Christian's season-high 14 points. Saturday evening, NIU let an eight-point lead late in the game slip away in a 66-58 loss at Western Michigan.

Women's Basketball: The Huskies dropped their lone game of the week, a 60-49 defeat at the hands of Bowling Green. Amanda Corral paced the NIU offense with 12 points.

Wrestling: The Huskies capped their MAC slate on a positive note, defeating Buffalo, 20-18. Nick Smith, Rob Jillard, Andrew Morse and Matt Mougin got wins for NIU early before Jared Torrence won the meet with an overtime decision at heavyweight.

Gymnastics: Northern Illinois recorded a season-best score for the second consecutive meet, but it was not enough in a 195.175-194.375 loss at Iowa State. Kim Gotlund posted career-best scores on the balance beam and uneven bars.

Track & Field: NIU earned three event titles Friday at the Ball State Quadrangular en route to a second place team finish. Janay Mitchell and Megan Gregory won the 60 meters and 60 hurdles, respectively, while Meghan Heuer captured her first event title at NIU with a win in the 3000 meters.

Baseball: Northern Illinois opened their season at Texas Tech's Brooks Wallace Memorial Classic. The weekend opened with an 8-0 loss against the host Red Raiders. On Saturday, the Huskies used a late rally against BYU, but fell short in a 5-3 defeat. Sunday's twinbill saw NIU drop games against Northern Colorado, 3-2, and TTU, 13-0.

Women's Tennis: NIU grabbed three wins during a weekend swing in Indianapolis. The Huskies defeated IUPUI Friday, 6-1, Indianapolis Saturday, 7-0, and Butler Sunday, 6-1.

Men's Golf: NIU opened their spring season Monday and Tuesday with a fourth place finish at the MAC Match Play in Dade City, Fla. After upsetting second-seeded Akron in the first round, the Huskies lost to eventual champion Bowling Green to close out Monday. On Tuesday, Northern dropped a tight contest against Eastern Michigan in the third-place match.

Men's Basketball: Northern Illinois dropped two MAC East contests over the past week. On Wednesday, NIU fell 57-41 against Bowling Green in the Convocation Center. Three days later, the Huskies got through the snowstorm to Buffalo, but lost in the last seconds against the Bulls, 59-54.

Women's Basketball: The Huskies got their first two MAC wins of the year, both coming on the road. NIU shot 59.2 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from three-point range Wednesday to down Ohio, 73-52. Sunday at Kent State, the Huskies topped the Golden Flashes, 52-47.

Wrestling: The Huskies closed out their home schedule Friday inside the Convocation Center, losing to in-state rival Northwestern, 36-6. Rob Jillard got the lone NIU win with a first period pin.

Gymnastics: Northern Illinois posted their highest point total of the year Friday night, but lost to No. 21 Central Michigan, 194.800-194.025. NIU's team score was 1.150 points higher than its previous season best.

Track & Field: NIU continued their streak of strong performances over the weekend, posting 11 top 10 finishes and two MAC automatic qualifying marks over the weekend at the GVSU Big Meet. Janay Mitchell and Megan Gregory earned auto berths in the 60 meters and 60 hurdles, respectively, while Jamie Burr took third in the 800 meters.

Softball: Northern Illinois started their season with a 3-2 performance at Baylor's Getterman Classic. On Friday, the Huskies defeated Illinois State, 3-1, and Sam Houston State, 4-0. Saturday saw NIU drop a pair of games against No. 22 Baylor, 4-1 and 1-0, before capping their stay with a 5-3 victory over SHSU.

Men's Tennis: The Huskies split their two contests in the St. Louis area over the weekend. NIU defeated Saint Louis, 6-1, for their sixth-straight win Saturday, but lost to SIU Edwardsville, 4-3, on Sunday.

Women's Tennis: NIU improved to 5-1 on the season with a pair of wins downstate. On Saturday, the Huskies pulled out a tight 4-3 win against Saint Louis before sweeping SIU Edwardsville, 7-0, on Sunday.
