Cuonzo Martin, other Vols teach responsibility and respect

Several top Vols, including men's basketball coach Cuonzo Martin, are teaching kids to take a slam dunk approach to responsibility and respect.

The head Vol was the keynote speaker at Monday night's Orange and White Family Night at Sequoyah Elementary School in West Knoxville. School leaders said the event is a way to teach the students about safety, respect and taking responsibility for their actions.

"I also think it's important that whenever you can speak to the youth about the right things to do--anti-bullying that sort of thing--it's very important to make sure they understand the difference between conflict and bullying," Martin said. "You can have conflict, as long as you are able to resolve the situation. I feel its very important that we understand that."

Former Vols football players Andre Lott and Inky Johnson, as well as the head Lady Vols swimming Coach Matt Kredich, also spoke at Monday night's event.

The program was a continuation of an anti-bullying program started last year.
