Happy Birthday - June 6

On June 6 we're wishing a happy birthday to football VFL Bill Bates

A native of Farragut, Tennessee, Bates went on to play 15 years in the NFL following a four-year career at the University of Tennessee. Bates was a four-year starter for the Vols, starting at both free safety and strong safety during his time on Rocky Top. After a strong playing career that featured freshman All-America honors, Bates signed with the Dallas Cowboys in 1983 as an undrafted free agent. He remained with the franchise until 1997, winning three Super Bowls and picking up one All-Pro selection. Bill Bates is the father of current Tennessee linebacker Dillon Bates.

Happy birthday to Tennessee legend and VFL Bill Bates!
