Vols in the Pros Update (8/25)

Against the A's, Arencibia had a single and caught a one-hit shutout by Luis Perez and Casey Janssen as Toronto squeaked out a 1-0 victory. He was 0-for-1 with a walk against former UT teammate Luke Hochevar in a 4-3 Blue Jay win yesterday.

R.A. Dickey (New York Mets) - Dickey twirled another quality start for the Mets against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday (VIDEO), but it went for naught once again as the Brewers struck for four runs against the NY bullpen in the final two innings to claim a 6-2 victory. Dickey allowed just two runs on six hits while striking out four in seven solid innings of work. The effort marked his sixth straight quality start, although he has just one win during that span.

J.P. Arencibia (Toronto Blue Jays) - Arencibia has hit safely in each of his last four games, including a two-RBI single (VIDEO) in the Blue Jays' 7-0 victory over the Oakland A's on Friday night. He has now knocked in 57 runs this season, placing him third among all MLB rookies.His 19 home runs rank second behind only the Angels' Mark Trumbo.

He has had some success against the Brewers in his career with a 1-1 record and 2.65 ERA in four appearances (two starts) against the Brew Crew.

Todd Helton (Colorado Rockies) - In his last two games, Helton has collected four hits, including his 14th home run of the season and three RBIs. Against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, he was 1-for-3 with an RBI groundout (VIDEO) and a walk. Yesterday, on his 38th birthday, Helton launched a solo home run to left (VIDEO) and drove in another run with a double (VIDEO) in a 3-for-6 effort as the Rockies outlasted the Dodgers in 14 innings. The longball was the fifth he has hit on his birthday during his MLB career, tying him with Al Simmons and Derek Lee for the most in major-league history, according to the Elias Stats Bureau.

He currently leads all AL catchers with his 16 dingers. The only catcher with more is Brian McCann with 18. Arencibia's four home runs since the All-Star break rank sixth among all MLB players.
