Forsythe, Duffy Named to Minor League All-Star Teams

Former Tennessee teammates Blake Forsythe and Matt Duffy have continued to excel at the Minor League level this season as both players have earned the right to play in the All-Star Game for their respective leagues.

Forsythe, a catcher for the St. Lucie Mets, will play on the South Division squad in the Florida State League All-Star Game set to take place at Charlotte Sports Park on June 16.

A third baseman for the Lexington Legends in the Houston Astros organization, Duffy will represent the Southern Division in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game. That game will be played on June 19 at Joseph P. Riley Park in Charleston, S.C.

In 31 games this season, Forsythe is hitting .286 with four home runs, eight doubles and 23 RBIs.

One of the Astros Minor League Players of the Month for May, Duffy has hit at a .313 clip in 55 games for the Legends, launching nine longballs and knocking in 30 runs.

Charley Thurber Named to NYPL All-Star Team

Off to a blazing start in his first professional season, former Vol Charley Thurber has been named to the New York-Penn League All-Star Team, along with four of his teammates from the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Thurber will take part in the seventh annual NYPL All-Star Game on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at LeLaucher Park in Lowell, Mass. The contest will pit the National League affiliates against their American League counterparts.

Here is what had to say about Thurber.

CHARLEY THURBER- Selected in the 39th round out of the University of Tennessee, Thurber seems to be the steal of the draft. Since July 4th, the outfielder is hitting .315 (34-108) and has hit in 22 of 28 games. Always Mr. Clutch for the Cyclones, Charley is also hitting .359(14-39) with runners in scoring position.

A power-hitting lefty for Tennessee last season, Thurber hit .230 with a pair of home runs, 12 RBIs and five stolen bases in 36 games. UT's starting right-fielder for most of the year, Thurber finished second on the squad with seven outfield assists despite playing through a wrist injury on his throwing arm that forced him to miss 14 consecutive contests at one point of the season. During his three years at Rocky Top, Thurber launched 13 longballs and hit at a .259 clip with 60 RBIs.
