It was the coordinators stepping up to the microphone after Day 3 of fall training camp wrapped up on Thursday evening. 

Both offensive coordinator Mike DeBord and defensive coordinator John Jancek discussed the positional battles within their respective units, with the latter focusing on a significant question mark at the middle linebacker spot, as per Knoxville News Sentinel. 1. Circle of Life

The Volunteers practiced in shells on Thursday, meaning that the time was ripe for the first Circle of Life drills of the season. 


The early title bout of the day was billed as a monster clash between behemoths Kahlil McKenzie (whose big moment would come later in the pass-skeleton drill) and Charles Mosley, but it was the hit levied by freshman quarterback-turned-wide-receiver Jauan Jennings that got this Big Orange section of the Twitterverse buzzing:



2. Hurd 'outstanding' to open camp

First-year OC Mike DeBord sang the praises of his sophomore tailback, whose leadership and effort he described as "outstanding." 



3. Gruden gives Jones stamp-of-approval

ESPN personality and former Super Bowl-winning coach Jon Gruden stated that Butch Jones is the right man for the job on Knoxville, saying "I'll say this about the Volunteers: they got the right guy. I think Butch Jones is going to put the Volunteers back on the map."
