Bray Named CFPA National Performer Of Week

After his record-setting day of 530 passing yards and five touchdowns, Vols quarterback Tyler Bray was named the Co-National Performer of the Week in all of college football, along with Georgia's Aaron Murray by the College Football Performance Awards. Bray was also named the National Quarterback of the Week.

Justin Hunter was named the National Wide Receiver of the Week after his nine catches, 181 yards and UT-record-tying three receiving touchdowns.

Fellow wideout Cordarrelle Patterson was named an Honorable Mention Wide Receiver of the Week after he had nine catches for 219 yards and a score. 

Moore, Rivera Honored By CPFA

After an outstanding individual performance against Georgia, RS junior Byron Moore and RS senior Mychal Rivera have been honored by the College Football Performance Awards.

Moore named to the honorable mention defensive back performer of the week list after coming away with his fourth interception of the season and taking it to the endzone for his first pick-six of his career. Moore finished the game with six tackles and a half tackle for loss.

Rivera earned honorable mention tight end performer of the week honors after finishing with a game-high 82 receiving yards on three catches, including a career-best 62 yard catch.

Moore, Brodus Earn Weekly Honors

Junior Byron Moore is quickly becoming one of the top playmakers on the Vol defense and continued to prove that on Saturday, intercepting two passes and recording a career high 10 tackles in Tennessee's 47-26 win over Akron. 

For his effort, Moore was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week by 

Moore also joined junior kicker Derrick Brodus as a College Football Performance Awards Honorable Mention Player of the Week. 

Brodus tied the Tennessee single-game scoring record by a placekicker with 17 points after knocking four field goals through the uprights and going a perfect 5-for-5 on extra points in the win over the Zips. 

Patterson Named To CFPA Weekly Honor Roll

The Vols Cordarrelle Patterson was named to the College Football Performance Awards Weekly Honor Roll as an Honorable Mention All-Purpose Performer of the Week

Patterson had 165 all-purpose yards with 93 receiving and 72 on the ground as he scored two touchdowns in the Vols' 35-21 season-opening win over NC State on Friday. 

Waggner Named To CFPA Defensive Back Watch List

Vols senior defensive back Prentiss Waggner has been named to the College Football Performance Award Preseason Watch List for the Defensive Back Trophy.

Waggner, who was on the preseason watch lists for the Bednarik, Nagurski and Lott Awards in 2011 heads into his senior season after a 48-tackle campaign in 2011. Waggner has 116 career tackles and seven interceptions, including a career-best five in 2010. Waggner has started the last 25 games in a row in the secondary.

Michael Palardy on 2012 CFPA Specialist Watch List

Tennessee junior PK/P Michael Palardy has been named to the College Football Performance Awards' 2012 Specialist Trophy Watch List, announced Monday.

One of 30 candidates, Palardy enters his third season at Tennessee having converted 14-of-21 career field goals and punting 18 times for 665 yards.

Palardy has also made 38-of-40 extra point attempts and has accounted for 80 points as a Vol.

Tyler Bray Named CFPA National Performer of the Week; Hunter honored

Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray's record-setting performance against Cincinnati yesterday continues to get notice nationally as the 6-6 sophomore has been tabbed the National Performer of the Week by College Football Performance Awards.

Bray is the first Vol to earn national player of the week laurels since Eric Berry was named the Lott Trophy IMPACT National Player of the Week on Nov. 11, 2009, after a stellar defensive performance against Kentucky.

Joining Bray in the CFPA's weekly awards was one of his favorite targets and fellow classmate Justin Hunter who was selected as an honorable mention wide receiver performer of the week. - CFPA National Performers of the Week
