Vols In The CFL and UFL Update (9/27)


With just six games remaining in the CFL regular season, let's take a look at how the CFL Vols are doing.

Jermaine Copeland - Asst. Coach Hamilton Tiger-Cats

The Tiger-Cats are 4-8 on the season with six games remaining and will play host to the first place (East Division) Montreal Alouettes on Friday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.

Jonathan Hefney - Defensive Back Winnipeg Blue Bombers

In 12 games this season, Hefney has recorded 49 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, had one interception and recovered a fumble for the Blue Bombers. Hefney had a season high seven tackles against Toronto on July 18.

The Blue Bombers are 3-9 on the season but are coming off of a 34-12 victory over Hamilton. They currently sit in last place in the East division and have yet to win a road game this season. Winnipeg will play host to Toronto Saturday night at 6 p.m.

Demonte' Bolden - Defensive Lineman Calgary Stampeders

Bolden returned to the gridiron for the Stampeders in mid-August and has recorded 11 tackles and a sack since then in six games played.

Demetrice Morley - Linebacker Calgary Stampeders

Morley has played in just two games this season for the Stampeders registering 10 tackles and a sack.

The Stampeders are currently in second place in the West division with a 7-5 record, the third best record in the CFL this season. This week Calgary will face Edmonton welcoming the Eskimos this Friday night at 8 p.m.


The UFL Season was officially underway September 17. This year's UFL features four teams, the Las Vegas Locos, Omaha Nighthawks, Sacramento Mountain Lions and Virginia Destroyers.

Four Vols are a part of the UFL this year as Savion Frazier and DeAngelo Willingham play for Virginia, Jonathan Wade is a member of the Mountain Lions and Albert Toeaina is on the Las Vegas Locos.

The Locos began the season with a 0-0 tie against Virginia Wednesday night.

Toeaina got the start at right guard while Frazier finished with three tackles and a tackle for loss for the Destroyers. Willingham did not play.

Wade and the Mountain Lions will open their season against the Nighthawks on Friday night.
