With the 2010 NFL Draft now underway and the St. Louis Rams on the clock, let's take a look back at Cal's history in the draft. The Golden Bears have had 23 first-round selections in the school's history and five in the last seven drafts since Jeff Tedford's first season as head coach in 2002. Jahvid Best and Tyson Alualu have both been picked by some experts to be selected in the first round in 2010, but the most recent mock draft by NFL.com experts don't have either currently going in the first round.
Alex Mack (2009) is the most recent Cal player to be taken in the first round, while Steve Bartkowski was the highest chosen when he was the first overall pick in 1975. The Bears have had two players taken in the first round three times, accomplishing the feat in back-to-back years in 1996 and 1997, and then again in 2003.
