Hailing from Orlando, Florida, the six-piece band Mumpsy is heading across the country to perform in San Diego as the second winning band of this year’s Collegiate Nationals Music Championship. Their “unbridled pop” meshes early to mid-sixties Brit-Pop via the Kinks and the Beatles with punk expression via the Misfits and the Stooges to create a unique and exciting viewing experience. With their third album “Cat & Canary” just released, Mumpsy heads to San Diego having performed over 110 shows since 2005. As hoards of talented college athletes head to the Wavehouse, Mumpsy will add another show to their rapidly growing list and provide Collegiate Nationals fans with a performance they won’t soon forget.
Not only will Mumpsy perform alongside the Collegiate Nationals Music Championship’s other winner, A Brief Smile, and headliners, Saosin and No More Kings, but they will also receive a CMJ prize package, including a $2,500 travel stipend, quarter-page print advertisement in CMJ New Music Monthly, song on a CMJ CD sampler and a 12-issue subscription to CMJ New Music Monthly.
