In addition to serving as CSTV’s Chairman, Steve Greenberg has
served as Managing Director at Allen & Company since January 2002.
There, he focuses on the sports and media industries, as he has throughout
his business career. Before joining Allen & Company, Mr. Greenberg
was the co–founder and Chairman of Fusient Media Ventures, a
New York-based sports and media company.
Prior to starting Fusient, Mr. Greenberg and his
business partner Brian Bedol co–founded Classic Sports Network
in 1993. Backed initially by Allen & Company and other private
investors, Classic Sports was one of the few successful independently
owned new cable networks launched in the 1990’s. The network
featured ‘classic’ sporting events licensed from virtually
all of the major sports organizations in America. Soon after its launch
in 1994, the network began to attract the attention of sports fans,
national advertisers and other media companies. In 1997, Messrs. Greenberg
and Bedol sold Classic Sports Network to ESPN. Mr. Greenberg stayed
on at ESPN until the end of 1998, during which time he helped to oversee
the smooth transition of Classic Sports into the ESPN portfolio of
networks.
Drawing on his love for baseball and his extensive legal and business
experience, Mr. Greenberg previously served as the Deputy Commissioner
and Chief Operating Officer of Major League Baseball under Commissioner
Fay Vincent from 1990 until 1993. At MLB, Mr. Greenberg oversaw the
day–to–day operations of the Commissioner’s office,
including Broadcasting, Finance, Legal, Baseball Operations, Special
Events and the League’s lucrative properties licensing operation.
Prior to MLB, Mr. Greenberg practiced law from 1977 through the end
of 1989 with the Los Angeles firm of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips
where he specialized in Sports and General Business Law and served
as the firm’s managing partner in 1987 and 1988.
The son of baseball legend Hank Greenberg, Steve has always shared
his father's love for the sport. He played first base and was captain
of the baseball team during his undergraduate years at Yale University.
After college, he was drafted by the Washington Senators and spent
five years playing for minor league affiliates of the Senators (who
later became the Texas Rangers). Subsequently, he enrolled at UCLA
Law School where he earned his J.D. degree in 1977.
Mr. Greenberg currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Topps
Company (Nasdaq – TOPP) and Convera Corporation (Nasdaq –
CNVR). In addition, he is the Chairman of the Board of Global Education
Network, an on–line education company.

Prior to co–founding CSTV, Mr. Bedol was the creator, co–founder
and chief executive officer of Classic Sports Network, now known as
ESPN Classic. Classic Sports Network, a cable channel launched to
critical and popular acclaim in May 1995, is considered one of the
cable industry’s greatest against–the–odds success
stories. It was sold to the ESPN division of the Walt Disney Company
in October 1997.
Prior to creating Classic Sports Network, Mr. Bedol served as senior
vice president of Time Warner Enterprises where he was involved in
the launch and supervision of several of Time Warner’s entrepreneurial
business units, including Quincy Jones Entertainment, Court TV and
Six Flags Theme Parks. Mr. Bedol’s responsibilities included
the oversight of Six Flags’ creative and marketing operations,
and he sat on the company’s board of directors. During his tenure,
Six Flags set all–time attendance, revenue, and profit records.
Mr. Bedol began his career in 1980 as a writer of television advertising
on the national McDonald’s Corporation account for Needham,
Harper, and Steers Advertising in Chicago (now DDB Needham). He left
there to join Warner Amex Satellite Entertainment as a writer and
producer as the company prepared to launch MTV: Music Television.
At Warner Amex, Bedol also supervised on–air promotion for The
Movie Channel and helped develop the business plan for Nick–at–Nite.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Bedol holds a B.S. degree from Boston
University’s College of Communications and a M.B.A. from Harvard
University.

In 1999, Chris Bevilacqua approached his current partners and co–founders,
Brian Bedol and Steve Greenberg, with an idea for a network featuring
all college sports all the time, and CSTV was born.
Prior to co–founding CSTV, Chris served as the Director, Global
Negotiations and League Affairs at Nike, Inc. While at Nike he negotiated
sponsorship, television and licensing partnerships with professional
league offices (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, WNBA, etc), professional
teams (Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, Boston Celtics, Detroit Red
Wings, etc.), NCAA Division 1 Universities (Florida, Penn St, Kentucky,
St. John’s, etc), individual athletes (Deion Sanders, Ken Griffey
Jr., Chamique Holdsclaw, etc), International governing bodies (USSF,
IIHF, USATF, etc) and Nike owned TV events (Brazil Soccer –
ABC/ESPN, Hoop Summit & Prefontaine Classic – CBS Sports,
etc). The deals totaled over $1 billion in commitments and included
the landmark deal to put the ubiquitous ‘swoosh’ insignia
on all Dallas Cowboy uniforms.
Previous to his time at Nike, Mr. Bevilacqua served as Director, Corporate
Sponsorships for The Baseball Network (‘TBN’), a revolutionary
and groundbreaking joint venture between Major League Baseball (‘MLB’),
NBC and ABC television networks. At TBN, Chris helped develop and
successfully launch the networks sales and marketing department and
secured sponsors and advertisers such as Anheuser Busch, General Motors,
MCI, Nike, Reebok, Texaco and Gatorade, among others.
Prior to MLB, Chris was a Manager of Sports Programming for NBC Sports
where he worked on several high profile program acquisitions including
the NFL, MLB, NBA, Olympics and college sports. Before joining NBC
Sports Chris was an independent sports TV producer from where he was
honored with an Emmy Award for his work as an Associate Producer of
the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea.
A native of Massapequa, NY, Chris holds a B.S. in marketing from The
Pennsylvania State University. Chris was an NCAA All–American
wrestler and team captain for the Nittany Lions and also captured
a gold medal at the 1983 World Espoir Wrestling Championships.
